My Story

Donna Asako Oshiro was born on June 2nd to Yasukichi and Irene Oshiro (who preceded her in death). Donna grew up in Halawa housing with her brother Chad. She graduated from Aiea High School and was a "perfect" child, never doing anything wrong...
She met and married Jeffrey Okimoto and had one child Jennifer Akiko Okimoto before they were divorced. She later met Robert Oshiro through mutual acquaintances, and started a relationship that would last from wehn Jennifer was three years old til Donna and Bob were married in November of 1998.
Donna was someone everyone loved, and I cant name one person who hated her. She was a friend to all, and a blessing and an asset to know.
She worked various jobs, to include Continental Insurance Agency where she went from bookeeper to Assistant Treasurer. She also worked at the Law Offices of Richard Quinn, Leeward Drugs, she helped at City Construction, and she worked for her last company at Alston Hunt Floyd and Ing, AAL. She was highly regarded by all of her co-workers and formed friendships to span the length of time...
However, what few knew was Donna's drive to be there for those who needeed her, and to do the best and most she could for others before herself did take its toll on her. She became ill and as she overworked herself, and sometimes took on more than she should have, she started a long battle with stress, overexertion, and when she could not complete everything she put on to her plate, she fought with depression, and work related stress. She gallantly and actively fought these demons for over ten years.
Her drive to help others, and to keep the peace and make everyone happy ultimately cost her her own happiness and peace. In the daily world of turmoil, she put on a face that convinced most that saw her that she was in control of her life...when in actuality, she was treading water almost everyday to overcome her troubles.
Her daughter was always her driving force behind her hard work and diligence, and she provided solely for her. And her grandsons, Dustyn and Daetyn were the most important ones to her. She took such great pride in their every movements. She was a remarkable person and the most perfect mother, and best friend a daughter could dream of, and she was also the greatest grandmother in the world.
On the afternoon of September 3, 2006, Donna delivered herself home to God, to find the peace of mind she so desperately sought for so many years...that she so desperately deserved. On September 3, 2006, I lost the chance to say my last goodbye to my hero, my best friend, my everything I had left in the world...the last of my foundation...The most important person in my life, my mother, was gone...but everyday since that day, she has never been forgotten...and the memories of her is what Im trying topreserve for my children, for me, and those she was important to...
